We have a new project for the quarter, and it is movie trailers. we've done this project in the past years as well, and it is a very fun project to do. I am working with 3 other people for this project which are Kyla Bautista, Taylor Chang, And Makaio Gonzalvas. Our goal for this project is to create an original, and captivating a 90-120 second movie trailer including a dramatic voice actor to add to the intensity, with a cliff hanger. In other words, without showing the resolution. As well as corresponding movie poster for our trailer.
HELLO!!!! Im back again. So every year we have an animation project, which is not my personal favorite but I still enjoy doing it. So for this years animation project we are working in teams of 3, im working with Ashley and Denae, which are two of my close friends. working with those girls is a whole lot of fun they are very creative, and have lots of good ideas that will be fun to potray. Our goal for this project is to create a 1-2 minute metamorphasis video with a message to get accrossed to the audience. We also have to have a custom soundtrack. The types of animation that me and my team are planning on using are photoshop animation, and stop motion.
As always we have a planning doccument, which we have our scenes and shos all planned out to make our lives easire in the future when filming, so we have an ided as to what we are doing and how the scenes are going to play out. Our focus statement is "Ashley Coordinates Clumsiness" we came up with this idea because while we were trying to think of ideas for the project, ashley almost fell for no reason twice, and one thing lead to another we came up with our idea as to what we wanted to do for our animation project. so our story is about Ashley, and she works at a restaurant and while she id bringing people their food, she bumps int someone and spills the food all over the customers, and gets fired. She then is really sad, and wishes she was a cat, and then she turns into a cat and goes through a sequence of events to try and learn coordination so she can get her job back. after a few tries, she family gets it, and tons back into a human, and gets her job back.
After watching everyone's animation projects in class critique today, you could see how much effort everyone put into making their projects the highest quality possible. With my team, it was a real great moment of relief to see that our project was done, and that all of our hard work and hours that went into it was all worth seeing the end result. I think that we did a good job on our animation project this year, for me personally i think this was the best I've ever done. In my opinion, it all depends on who you work with, when i work on projects with friends I feel like we get more ideas flowing and that the project comes together quit nice when I'm working with the right people on the right project, we can make magic happen.

Hello I'm back with another post. It is now the start of quarter 2, and this months blog post is gonna be about our new project witch is called polly portraits. Things like colors and sounds are universal, and so are facial expressions. Universal means that it could be understood by people all around the world. Facial expressions allow you to get across to people how you feel without using words. If you have a smiling people from all around the world will be able to tell that you are happy.
When creating a polly portrait there are lots of steps to go through with, and could take a long time. When creating mine, I started by first Getting a photo and opening it into photoshop. After you have your photo loaded in photoshop, if your photo is symmetrical, you can draw a line down the center of your photo, if not then your gonna just have to do the whole thing. Then you set up your grid and use the line tool with a size of 5pixels you start to outline your photo going along with the grid lines Then add draw triangles into the outlines you made. After all of your triangles are done, you start to fill them in by using the elliptical marque tool to select your shape and go filter>distort>average to color in your shape. do that for your whole image, but if your image is symmetrical them you only have to do half and then you can copy that image and flip it to the other side.
We did this project multiple times using different methods. The first way we did it probably took the longest because we had to first outlined our face, and filled it in with triangles using the line tool. Once we covered our face with triangles then we went back over them with the polygonal lasso tool to color the polygons in. I had some difficulties when it came to overlapping the triangles, there were a few gaps in there that there shouldn't be. The second way we did it was a bit easier since we ditched the outline and just went right into drawing and filling in the triangles. My main issue with this project wasn't anything technical, it was the shortage of time. Since of the rush I was having on the last day, I tried to quickly fill everything in so that I could finish, but I didn't end up adding as much detail as I could of in areas like the eyes.
Hello! I'm back, and this months blog post is about our new project that is called "Retiming Nature". Nature can impact your life in a few ways whether you realize it or not. Nature keeps you alive. All plants like trees, and flowers give off oxygen, and us humans cant live without oxygen. nature can also impact your life by making you happy. If you are having a hard day, and you go outside and look at how beautiful the day is, it might be able to cheer you up a bit.
Time-lapses and slow-mo's are basically complete opposites. A time-lapse is created when you take a video of something for a long period of time and then later in an editing program you sped it up so that all of the action that was taking place in the shot is now happening really fast. With slow-motion it is the complete opposite. To make a slow-motion, you need to get extremely close to the subject, and take a video of fast actions/movements. And when you edit it later instead of speeding it up, you are gonna slow it down, so the actions that were happening really fast are now happening really slowly.
While creating this project I had my ups and downs, and some things were easier to do then others. I would say the absolute hardest thing was probably writing my poem. It took lots of thought, and time. It had to be a 45-55 second poem when it was read, so I needed to write a 22 line poem. It took a good 2 weeks to completely finish writing it since wanted it to rhyme, but once it was finished it sounded good. Working on this project was fun for a few different reasons. I got to get out of the house and film in nature. I even went hiking up the sleeping giant mountain with two of my friends. It was a lot of fun, a great experience, and it made for a great time lapse. Besides all of that, I really enjoyed the whole editing process in FCPX I love to just sit for a wile and edit a project. I love to see all of my hard work finally come together as one final finished project.
I agree with the results I got from the class critique. I completed all of the requirements, but there was still lots of things I could of done. I could of rerecorded my voice over so that there weren't little spots in my recording where it was louder then others.
Hello,I'm back with my very first blog post of this school year. New year, clean slate this is your chance to start over. This blog post is gonna be about poetry, poetry is gonna be our main focus this quarter in my G.T class, so lets get into it
What is poetry? Everyone has their own definition of what poetry is to them. To some people poetry could mean nothing to them, maybe they just see it as words an a page. Some people see it as a whole lot more then just words on a page. To me, poetry is a way that you can express your feelings, thoughts, or emotions. You could use it to explain your feelings by adding words like pain, joy, fear etc. You could also use poetry to make a statement, or inspire. There is a lot you can do with it.
Good people are hard to be found,
But once you find them their great to be around.
Wether its family or a friend,
They'll be there till the end.
Support, and help with your rout,
Their there without a doubt.
Trying to aim for A`s,
They`ll teach you the best ways.
Weird, crazy, funny, they love you by far,
They accept you just the way you are.
In my poetic statement I used rhythm and rhyme. Used rhythm by making all of the lines in my poem relate. I made them relate by talking about what it is like with good people in your life, and what they can help you get through, and accomplish. In my poem I also used rhyme. Adding rhyme to poems can make them more interesting. It can take a while to figure out the right words, but once you do, it can make the poem sound really great.
Hello, I am back, and this is the final blog post for this 2015-2016 school year. And this post is gonna be about our final project this year, which is a music video. And I am so exited for this project! Me, Kiana, Sophia, and Kyllie are on a team for this project, and we chose to do the song Hello by Adel. The song is about Adel trying to call this guy, and tell him that she is sorry for what she did, but we changed the plot to be a group of friends that have an argument, and split up into two, and then 2 of the friends keep on calling the other two to say sorry about the fight, and want to be friends again, but they wont pick up, and when they finally pick up, they work out their problems, and all become friends again.
So in the song Hello by Adel there is a line that says "I must of called a thousand times" and we were thinking about what we were gonna do with that line, then we thought to make a montage. So we were at my house filming that line, when I thought "we should have sophia, and Kyllie change shirts every time they moved places in the yard.(since they were the two people in this scene) So we brought out 20 shirts, and they changed every time they moved places. So Kiana, and sophia were there changing in the backyard, and we were all just hoping that nobody would end up seeing them. It was defiantly a fun time, and that was probably one of my favorite scenes to film this project.
So the goal for this project was to create a music video that shows what we have learned this year. I think that we have meet that requirement, because we learned a lot of stuff like how to make a montage, how to do some cool effects in imovie, filming techniques, we learned how to use photoshop, and how to work as a team. We used all of these things when doing this years music video. I think that we did a good job, and we are all proud of our final product.
So for this animation project I have Linden, and Callum on my team. Lindens character trait that we used was that he is a procrastinator, and is always waiting till the last second to do things, or just doesn't do them at all. in our animation, linden is asked to do a task, and he just doesn't want to do it, so he tells himself that he will just do it later, when in reality, he probably wont get it done at all. The character trait that we used for Callum was that he is introverted, and has a hard time talking to people. In the animation, he has to go get help, but doesn't know who to talk to, until he finds someone who looks like they are easy to talk to,and asks them for help.
Our animation doesn't have any humor in it at all. Our initial thought was to make it funny, but then we were so focused on finishing animating, and editing that we completely forgot to add in some humor. We could of added in some funny lines to the script, or made the characters done some funny things when using puppet warp. If we were to do this project again, i think that we could of worked a little harder to add in some humor to the story.
So me, linden, and Callum have never worked together on a project, and considering that this is the first time we have worked together, and we have never actually talked, i think we did well. We were kinda silent for the first class, then we gradually started feeling more comfortable around each other, and talking more, which made working as a team a whole lot easier.
So this week in G.T we are working on a iMovie project for the .Mov Film festival. And we have a choice to do a movie trailer, sitcom, or an animation, and me and my team team decided to do a movie trailer. Last year we did a movie trailer which we called "Snoopy George" (scroll down a few posts and you can see the trailer). So we thought "why not make a snoopy George 2" So we did. We have 3 key words which are Adventure, Friendship, and Journey. we chose these words, because our trailer is gonna be about a guinea pig who goes missing one morning, and her sister Ivy has to go and find her. So Ivy goes on an adventure, to go find her sister. It is gonna be a journey for Ivy, but she hopes it will all be worth it in the end.
Our original idea was to just have the trailer be about 2 guinea pigs just roaming around having fun, but then we thought to ourselves "What is the purpose?" Then we realized that we didn't really have a message. So we changed our idea to be about Ivy waking up in the morning, going downstairs to look for bean, and not being able to find her, so she leaves her cage, and goes on a journey to find her sister ur overall message of our trailer is friendship is important, and you should be willing to do almost everything, in order to help your friend.
Me and my team got along with each other well. But we did have a few problems. I feel like the biggest problem was probably figuring out when we can all film. we all have busy sceduals, and unfortianently, we never had a dat that we were all available
Hello, its me again! so we are now going into the 4th quarter, and it blows my mind how fast the year is going by, Okay so our next project is gonna be to create a GIF, And we are gonna make it by having three pictures take of us, one from the front, back, and side.I am the type of person that is always a little crazy. I am an odd child of god. I will usually get a task, and no matter how hard it is, i will try to o it o my own, and most of the time, i will fail, and end up needing help.
When I animate myself, I might have to exaggerate some of my personal traits to make it a little more interesting. The character traits i plan on exaggerating while animating myself is being crazy, and energized. I might make myself com in in a weird way. And I might come I doing a funky dance. In my practice gif, I came into the frame grew 12 arms, and then flew out.
When making a gif, there is a step-by-step way to do it. First, you take a pic of yourself, then you upload it in photoshop, then you are gonna use the quick selection tool, and cut yourself out, and then copy, and paste the layer. Then once you have it all set up, go window, animate, and a animation frame should show up. you then can select puppet warp, and start to animate yourself. You can even add a backgrounf=d if you want.
This week In my G.T class, we are working on composite images. If you dont know what a composite image is, click HERE.Some people may think "whats the point, isn't one image enough." Well the point of composite images is to get the most detail you can of the scene in one image. To make a composite image you just take a panorama. so no, one image is not enough.
I did a few different Polar, and spherical panos. Polar and the spherical panos are different from eachother in a few different ways. First of all, the polar looks like a mini world with the sky on the outside. The sphereical ended up looking somewhat like a snowglobe with the sky on the inside, and the land on the outside. I know that I am not very good at explaining
Polar and spherical panos are created almost exactly alike. The only difference is that with the polar you flip your image first then you polar the coordinates. So the polar ends up looking like a tiny world. The spherical ends up looking like a snow globe.
